This report describes electronic sensors and sensor systems for use in force protection. Two types of systems are treated: 1) perimeter surveillance systems for protection of military camps and other permanent or semi-permanent installations, and 2) unattended ground sensors for protection of forces in temporary positions. The capabilities of such systems based on mechanical, electromagnetic and electro-optical sensors are discussed. Cost estimates are presented and issues relating to management, maintenance and logistics are described. Furthermore, the report gives a brief description of future trends in electronic surveillance for force protection.en_GB
