dc.description.abstractQuestions have been asked about the stability of RS-RDX with regard to shock sensitivity during the lifecycle of a PBX. To study if there are changes in product properties due to ageing of the RDX have we selected PBXN-109 as our composition and perform ageing of. The used RDX crystals have been produced by Dyno Nobel and is of RS quality. We have planned to test virgin PBXN-109 and PBXN-109 aged at 60oC for 3, 6, 12 and 18 mounts. In addition to shock sensitivity determined by Intermediate Scale GapTest, we want to test Critical Diameter and Shore A hardness during the study. Totally 9 mixes of PBXN-109 was mixed to fill the number of test items (Gap test tubes, cones for critical diameter etc) needed to be able to perform the planned test program. This report contains production data and test results for virgin PBXN-109 and PBXN-109 aged 3 mounts at 60oC. Virgin PBXN-109 has shock sensitivity and critical diameter as is normal for PBXN-109 containing RS-RDX. PBXN- 109 aged 3 mounts show no significant changes in either shock sensitivity or critical diameter. The Shore A hardness increases slightly after ageing.en_GB
