    Abstract
This report presents a description of the present Norwegian electric power system, as well as a discussion of emerging trends and future developments in this system. The report provides the basis for FFI’s current vulnerability analysis of the electric power system. Norway’s electric power system is getting increasingly complex, due to a large-scale implementation of electronic components and information systems. Workforce reductions and efficiency improvements dominate the development of the electric power sector. Norway is also becoming increasingly dependent on foreign power sources. These trends provide for an entirely differernt electric power system than just a few years ago. Also, these trends make it virtually impossible to present a ”static” description of the system. Thus, the report also contains a scenario, describing possible future developments of the system until 2010.
