This report presents simulation studies on the application of a receiver technique known as turbo equalization to High Frequency (HF) modems. Standardized waveforms in the range 600 bps to 9600 bps are considered. Gains of several dB are reported, compared to a conventional receiver using decision feedback equalization. Focus is on principles and simulation results, the mathematically interested reader is referred to references. The report describes work performed in Project 822 SIGVAT HF at FFI, and is a stand-alone extension to the author’s doctoral thesis.en_GB
