Two crystal charges of RS- RDX (Reduced Sensitivity) quality has been used for production of PBXN-109 to characterize properties as shock sensitivity and critical diameter. Questions have been asked about the stability of RS-RDX with regard to shock sensitivity during the lifecycle of a PBX. To study if there are changes in product properties of PBXN-109 due to changes with the age of RS-RDX, have samples been tested with regard to shock sensitivity and critical diameter of virgin material. Samples for testing of shock sensitivity, critical diameter and stability have in addition been produced and left for accelerated ageing at 70oC to be tested when a lifetime of 20 years is reached. In addition has crystals from both crystal charges been stored at 60oC that will be used to produce PBXN-109 after 6 and 12 months of storage. This report contains results of production data and test results of PBXN-109 with regard to shock sensitivity and critical diameter of newly produced test items.en_GB
