dc.description.abstractIn the accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement (signed in December 1995), the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), was requested to put in place an election programme for Bosnia and Herzegovina. This report discusses OSCE's role as a supervising body for the preparation and conduct of the following elections: The Presidential, - and the Parliamentary elections for the country as a whole and for the Federation in September 1996, the municipal elections in September 1997 and the election for the National Assernbly of the Republika Srpska in November the same year. To fully understand and appreciate the problems and challenges for such an enormous task, which were to be accomplished in a very short time the report also deseribes the complexityen_GB
