Elektrooptiske begrensere
Abstract
A description is given of physical mechanisms and promising materials which can be utilized in optical power limiting
devices. The discussion is focussed on use of such limiters for protection of military electro-optic sensors and personnel
against laser countermeasures. The best known limiter materials, suitable for different wavelength ranges from the
visible to the far infrared spectral region, are presented together with a discussion of material properties. Important
material data and results from published experimental work are summarized in a table. The report also presents
experimental results obtained at FFI with optical limiters based on carbon-black suspensions and CS2.
